What Do You Think of This New Study That Concludes That Alcohol Is “More Lethal Than Cocaine, Heroin”?
Question by Obama: NeoCon? If not, then what?: What do you think of this new study that concludes that alcohol is “more lethal than cocaine, heroin”?
Basically British researches ranked substances according to their overall detriment to individual health and society as a whole. Alcohol was number 1 on the list ahead of crack, cocaine and heroin. Marijuana and LSD ranked towards the bottom of the list.
Do you think this is enough for the U.S. to at least consider re-classifying some of it’s illegal narcotics? (Specifically removing marijuana from the Schedule 1 classification which includes heroin, cocaine etc.)
This study would seem to legitimize the decision by countries like the Netherlands to classify marijuana as a “soft drug” as opposed to a “hard drug” (ie cocaine, heroin, meth etc.)

LONDON – Alcohol is more dangerous than illegal drugs like heroin and crack cocaine, according to a new study.

I don’t really eat it but I have heard that people go through a detox, and it makes them sick for a couple of days before they start to feel better.

Question by David S: Why is it that we always see the medical world constantly labeling common activities as new “addictions”?
The way I see it, the medical world acts much like the media in the fact that they seek nearly as much attention using whatever they can come up with for a story.
They are always labeling common activities, calling them “addictions”.
You here it all the time. Internet addiction. Video game addiction. On Yahoo’s search page today they are spewing some story about sun tanning addiction.
A habit can be developed by anyone for anything that they like to do. Are you going to say I need counseling because I have an addiction to flying a model airplane or fishing?
I just think they more or less synthesize non-existent syndromes for ultimately, the money.

What is it called when Nurses/Doctors go to Drug/Alcohol Treatment? It has a name that you don’t associate with rehab… It is a cute little euphemism for “Rehab”.
Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
I found it! “Diversion Programs”.
I needed an euphemism for “Recovery” to put in the list of potential dietary requirements for a b-day party I’m planning.
“If anyone has any issues with the set, family-style menu, I was told they can request a plate off the regular menu and (as long as it isn’t lobster etc.) it will be covered by the $ 16.95 a head so vegetarians, theistic requirements, anyone on Diversion, Allergies, etc. etc. etc. can be accommodated without a meltdown.”
