Getting Help for Heroin Addiction

Getting help for Heroin addiction can be hard, but is a must to all addicts that are addicted. Is it a terrible and hard disease that can seriously damage the body as well as the mind.

The addiction usually starts when a person develops a dependency on the drug with recreational use, then after awhile, the body develops a physical dependency that takes control of the body’s needs as well as the persons behavior.

Most people that use heroin do not expect to develop a dependency on heroin, but the effects of the drug, and any personal problems the person does have makes the drug hard to resist. Detox Programs: Drug Addiction Issue — Please Help?

Question by marie: Drug addiction issue — please help?
We have a family member who is addicted to street drugs. He is going to a 3 day detox (may be there now). Problem is there is no money for a “program” and no health insurance. No one has the money – nor have property to even get a second mortgage. Do you have ANY IDEAS of how you can get help without paying? He will die if he doesn’t get help. The drugs have him bad. He will take ANYTHING he can get his hands on and any possible way he can. He wants help finally. Meetings alone are not going to help him. He needs at least a 30 day program but probably in bad enough shape to really need a long term program. Do any of you have any suggestions out there? I know there are different ways to get aid. We just don’t know who can aid him. He is not a person who is close enough to me personally to be my problem or concern but I do care.
1. I do not live close to this person
2. HE DOES WANT HELP (see question)
3. We are in Florida
I went thru this with my oldest son too. This is his father – court appt. programs are only for people who have committed a felony and relating to drugs.
Yes, my son’s father – my son is 26. This is my ex-husband but I do care about the family.

Pain Killer Treatment: I’m Really, Really Scared and Stressed Out – It’s a Long Read, but Please Help?

Question by .: I’m really, really scared and stressed out – it’s a long read, but please help?
In 2004 my Mother had a DVT in her hip and leg, (a blood clot) and I really don’t want to go through that again. I was 8. I remember the doctors being very strict, telling her to keep her leg elevated and to keep a close eye on her leg and hip – reason why? Because if she gets another blood clot in her leg, she’ll loose her leg…

About, 3-4 weeks ago, my Mother started complaining about leg pains. She took pain killers, and tried to take it easy. (I really didn’t think much of it)…

Now – she has a black indentation on her leg (which had the blood clot) I think it’s probably an ulcer…She limps very harshly…Her leg turns purple/blue if she doesn’t elevate it…She’s a pack a day smoker…She’s pessimistic…She’s very stressed out…
