Mild headache, but drank lots of water. I didn’t throw up at all – not on Friday or Saturday.

It is now Monday, & starting last night I had cold sweats, trouble sleeping, I’m very irritable, shaky, lightheaded and feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest.

I looked up these symptoms and came up with “Alcohol Withdrawal” as my diagnosis. However, every legitimate/reliable site has said that Alcohol Withdrawal can only happen to someone who has been drinking every day, or continuously for weeks/months.

Does anybody have a similar experience, or can give me advice on how to feel better at least?

Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Katie
You do NOT have alcohol withdrawal… sometimes WebMD is not always accurate. You may just be sick. If it does not go away head to your doc but give it a few days I am sure you will be fine.

Add your own answer in the comments!

Alcohol & Substance Abuse : How Long Do Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms Last?

Withdrawal symptoms of alcohol use can last anywhere from a few hours to 10 days, and severe alcoholics can enter into a period of psychosis that lasts for days and months. Is it a terrible and hard disease that can seriously damage the body as well as the mind.

The addiction usually starts when a person develops a dependency on the drug with recreational use, then after awhile, the body develops a physical dependency that takes control of the body’s needs as well as the persons behavior.

Most people that use heroin do not expect to develop a dependency on heroin, but the effects of the drug, and any personal problems the person does have makes the drug hard to resist. People, who have addictions, usually develop the disease because of problems in their life that was never talked about or the person never faced the problems, so the person self-medicates.

The drug heroin, first came about in 1874, it is an opiate drug, that comes as a white powdered substance, it is a narcotic synthesized from morphine, snorted, or melted and used in a needle. It is one of the most habit-forming drug there is because of it euphoric effects, that leads to high dependency and a serious addiction. Hundreds of people each and every year will overdose from having a high dependency, and not knowing their limit.

Even though there is a lot of terrible consequences to doing the drug, users cannot break out of their cycle of drug abuse. Heroin has the same effects as other prescribed opiates, but it is just a cheaper and easier to get on the streets. One time use of the drug can trigger painful withdrawal symptoms within 6 hours of use, and that is another factor making it hard quit.

Heroin withdrawal triggers the body’s physiological systems, like the respiratory system causing slowing breathing, the circulatory system causing the blood flow to slow down and pump less blood where it needs to go, and the central nervous systems causing all the body movements and reactions to be slow or numbed.

Heroin users end up with respiratory arrest, coma, and death. All heroin addicts should get help.

If you think that you may have an addiction to heroin there is help available to you. One form of help would be going to a heroin addiction rehab. There you will be medically detoxed from heroin. This procedure will be overseen by a trained medical staff who will administer prescription medications to help relive the side effects of heroin withdrawal. This process normally takes anywhere from 3 to 5 days.

Good luck.

If you would like to learn more heroin addiction please visit.

For more information on heroin addiction and heroin addiction recovery please visit.

Article Source:
http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Arthur_Coburn

Stuck on heroin? This can cause great struggle within the body that result in severe symptoms and reactions. These symptoms are most painful during the first few days after a person gets off of drugs or alcohol. It is suggested that people who are getting off drugs seek medical intervention that can curtail the effects of withdrawal. Medical detox can be a very helpful tool to allow people to end their drug addiction and move on with their lives and get their life back on track.

How Long It Takes

Usually, medical detox takes about a week to fully complete depending on the drug and the level of dependency. However, sometimes it can take up to two weeks. This time period, if not carefully managed, can lead to long term health problems. There are some drugs that cause much worse withdrawal symptoms than others. Alcohol, Xanax, heroine, and opioids are all drugs that can be very painful to get off of.

Setting

Normally, this type of medical detoxification takes place in a treatment center or hospital setting. There can be some serious consequences which is why it’s important for medical supervision. Also, there are residential treatment facilities that handle withdrawal and detoxification in house. It is good if people going through a detoxification process have constant supervision. This way if any problems arise there will be a doctor there to take care of them. Your doctor will be able to tell you which of these detox options may be right for you.

Potential Harm

If a person attempts to quit drugs all at once, without medical help, they can do serious damage to themselves. Not only can they do physical damage to their bodies, but they can also experience severe mental distress when the stop getting the drugs their used to. This is another reason it is vital to seek medical help when you get off of drugs or alcohol.

Constructive Atmosphere

Medical detox facilities can also offer counseling sessions for patients. This provides a constructive activity for individuals to take part in while they are going through their detox. It also helps to share these experiences with people who are going through the same situation as you are. People who have drug addictions can learn a lot about their behavior by listening to other addict.

There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all detox program. Everyone is different and their recoveries will be unique. Some people may take longer to detox than others depending on what they were addicted to. It is important to consult with a licensed physician before deciding which method of medical detox will be right for you. However, whatever method you choose, it is important to follow through with the process until your body is completely free of drug addiction.

Article Source:
http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ben_Pate

The Palms Private Medical Detox

Medically-supervised, hospital-based detoxification center located in West Palm Beach, Florida offering detox services from a variety of drugs including opiates, Benzodiazepines, club drugs and alcohol.
